4X Empire

A 4X strategy game in the manner of Civilization, from one manifest: explore, expand, exploit and exterminate on a generated hex world. Write the map (a size, one of twelve generators, a seed, a climate), the factions (twenty historical civilizations or six fantasy races, each with a trait and a unique unit; human or AI, with a personality) and the rules (difficulty, victories, a turn limit); the plate builds the world (continents, mountain ranges, rivers that run to the sea, forests, deserts, polar ice, resources, ancient ruins), places fair starts, and plays every rival. The game is all there: founding and growing cities that work their tiles, production queues, buildings and world wonders, a 42-tech tree from agriculture to space flight, workers and improvements, roads, strategic resources that gate units, borders that grow with culture, gold and upkeep, unit upgrades, embarking, barbarian camps, war and peace, city sieges and capture, and domination, conquest, science, culture and score victories. The map is drawn isometrically with fog of war, borders and growing cities; the HUD has yields, research, a unit card with its commands, attack forecasts, a city screen, a tech tree, diplomacy and a minimap. Four layouts: empire, spectator (AI against AI), map (a political map for renders) and hotseat. Saves itself in the browser each turn. Ships empty on purpose.
